wiring from overdrive button could be shorting to earth as when button is used it uses a an earth to select overdrive
I’ve had recall issues with my Tribute, I would check to make sure that’s not one of the things you need taken care of, especially before your warranty runs out.
When does this happen? If you are feeling it shift going up a hill, or under acceleration, that is not the overdrive, that is the transmission downshifting!
If it is actually going into overdrive, when the switch is off, then there is a problem with the switch, wiring or relay. If it is under warranty, take in in and let them fix it.

Most likely the OD switch or its wiring has packed in. As it’s still under warranty, take it to the dealer. Don’t muck about with it, you could make it worse and give the dealer a chance to deny the warranty claim.
