Is the 2008 Honda Civic Si coupe a good daily driver?

CrazySight asked:

I’m buying a new 2008 honda civic si coupe. I want to hear people opinions. I’m 18, I have the money for it I have been saving for a while. I always dreamed of buying a civic. How is it for a daily driver?

I’ve driven it I love the car. But does anybody who already owns one encounter any problems electronically or mechanically.

Great choice. I have personally owned only Honda products (5 in total all purchased brand new over the last 25 + years). I have kept all my cars between 6-9 years and never had to any repairs except for one water pump, new tires, brake pads and one battery covered under warranty. I had an 1999 civic si coupe and loved it. I currently have an Acura (still a honda) RSX. Really once you own a Honda you will be faithful forever to Honda cars and you can quietly laugh at your friends when they have car trouble with their inferior makes.

This is the car that has been setting the standard to which all others follow.
It also graces top-10 lists with regularity and has set new standards for safety, resale value, reliability and durability.

I am on my 4th Honda Civic and they have always performed extremely well.
Look after it and it will last at least 12 years.

its a honda its a wounderful car desigend with you in mind… its NOT a pos american car which is made to be disposible because they also own the parts companys. as far as problems the only problem you will encounter as long as you maintain it is change the timing belt, (does that engine have the timing chain) at 100k miles with the water pump and it will last another 100K thats all the problems you will encounter…

its not like a chrysler where youll have to change the transmission
its not like a ford where you ill change various components such as an altenator
its not like a gm where youll have to change the lower seal because your leaking coolant

buy it

I have an ‘06, which is the same generation, and, no. Not a single problem. As long as you have the money to put premium gas in it, you’ll love it. Basically, with all Hondas, if you take car of it, it will take care of you. Have fun! :)

its a good car and fast but if you’re not really going to ever race and if you do a lot of city driving or sit in traffic jams you might get annoyed by the clutch. my advice, if you know your going to take the car and have fun with it every once if a while get the si. if not, get the automatic civic. it will be a smoother ride and more fuel efficient.

Congratulations on the SI! come join the 8th gen civic forum, tons of guys and gals with the same civic.

one of the most common problems is the 3rd gear. you can read alot more about it there. other wise its a great car. i do a round trip of 120 miles a day in mine. Theres a guy on the forum that already has 300,000+ miles on his civic.
