The best car to learn in is the one you will be driving. For me that was a 1955 Chevy panel truck with a granny gear and no synchronized transmission. I have driven VW bugs, Ford vans, old cars, new cars, it doesn’t matter what you learn on, learn on the car you will be driving.
honda civic is not the best car for anything. That myth is the reason Ford and GM had to steal $25 billion last week in gov’t loans. If people would get that old myth left over from the 80’s out of their heads and give Ford GM a chance, they might be ok today. My Ford=139,000 miles, no leaks, no trouble at all on original engine and transmission.
Not to be a jerk to the guy asking the question, but that honda’s better line gets me mad, cause I know it just ain’t true.
Honestly it doesn’t matter. I would learn on the car that you are going to buy. My first car was a automatic Toyota Corolla 2001, which I totaled, and then I got my 93 Honda Civic Coupe, manual. It hasn’t given me any trouble since and it is the easiest car to work on, body and performance wise.
But it all depends on your preference, my answer would obviously be a little biased because I haven’t owned any other car besides these 2 Japanese ones. So I say yes! Honda!

The best car to learn in is one that already has some problems with the clutch since you will most likely wreck it anyways.
If you could learn to drive something like smarty learned on you could drive anything.
lol don’t listen to answer #2, I too have wanted to learn how to drive stick because my bf does. Um, I’ve tried in a 94 civic, it’s just as hard as any other, just trying to get it out of first though, lol. Butttt, I think hondas are a great car! I just went from a ford to a honda accord, ittts so much better! gooooood gas mileage
